“The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.” 1 Corinthians 1:18-19
Go with me to time many years ago. There was a man who walked the earth and told everyone that he was God. He performed many wonderful things while he was here on earth. Many of the people should have known who he was, but they hated him. They wanted to kill him, so he died on a Roman cross, but was an innocent man. To top all this off, this man rose from the dead. If we use our reasoning, we believe that this is not possible. This is foolish to believe such a story. I am telling you that this story is true. How do I know that this is true? He lives in my heart and I walk with Him every day. I don’t know what I would do without this man named Jesus.
“God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.” (Ephesians 1:9-11) Through God’s wisdom He had this wonderful plan. No man could come up with this wonderful plan. “God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.” (Ephesians 1:12-14) To God be the Glory!
