“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” Matthew 7:24 I have been writing on what Jesus’ Church looks like. The Church of Jesus Christ is not a building. The Church of Jesus is you and me. All of the believers in the world are part of the Church of Jesus Christ. If we are the church, we should look like the church. “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:14-16) People in the world are looking at us to see what the church is like. If we are the light of the world, should we not be like Jesus. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus tells us how we should look. The Beatitudes are the way that we become a disciple of Jesus Christ. The rest of the Sermon is about how we are to look if we are truly disciples of Jesus Christ. It is how we build the foundations of our life. When our foundations are built on the the teaching of Jesus Christ, we have a firm foundation and we look like the Church of Jesus Christ. Do others see the true church in your life?
