Apostles Creed – Our Father

Posted on Posted in Apostles Creed

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.” Genesis 1:1-2

“So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15

I believe in The Father Almighty Maker of Heaven and Earth. God created everything. He created it out of nothing. I don’t quite understand this, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is true. Not only did God create everything, He holds the world together. God could speak and the world would no longer exist. This powerful God that created everything and holds it all together is my Father. He is closer than my earthly father. My earthly father loved me and this I have no doubt about. God loves me even more than my earthly fathers could ever love me. God is my Abba Father. Abba is a name that shows a very deep close relationship. “Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” (Mark 14:36) Jesus and Paul use the same name for God. One is the Son of God and the Savior for all mankind. The other was determined to destroy the belief about Jesus and who He is until Jesus changed his life on that dusty road to Damascus. The two men couldn’t be more different in the eyes of those around them, but in the eyes of God, they were created from the same cloth, closer than physical brothers as they had become spiritual brothers for eternity. Can you call God your Abba Father?  If not, why don’t you accept Him today as your Savior.
