Apostles Creed – The Bread of Life

Posted on Posted in Apostles Creed

“Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life. Bread is necessary for us to live and be healthy in our physical life. Eating grain foods, like bread, plays an important role in our diet by providing many nutrients, such as dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals that are vital for the health and maintenance of our bodies. Jesus is the bread we need for our spiritual life. Without Jesus we will perish and die of hunger, our souls starve and there is nothing to nourish and fill us. Anything in life that takes the place of Jesus is nothing but junk food. Jesus tells us, “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.” (John 4:34) This is where our nourishment comes from. It is being obedience to God and His leading in our lives. “Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.” (Isaiah 55:2-3) How many people are laboring for food that perishes? It does not have to be that way. Jesus tells us come to Him and we will have the food that never perishes.
