“The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” Mark 1:15
Jesus is telling us that we need to believe the Good News. Just what is the Good News? Do we really know what the Good News is? Do we really believe the Good News? I believe that the only way that we can grow in our walk with God is to know what we believe. We need to also know why we believe. A good starting point is the Apostles Creed. The Creed was not written by the Apostles and it is not scripture. It is based on the Bible. In the next few devotions we will be looking at the Apostles Creed and the scriptures that the creed is based on.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universe) church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And life everlasting. Amen
