Genesis – Day 5

Posted on Posted in Genesis

“Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.”  So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the fifth day.” Genesis 1:20-23

God created all the creatures of the sea and the birds that fly in the sky. These were not created in an evolution process; they were created whole– fully grown. They did not evolve from lifeless matter. This is impossible. To have life all the parts have to work together. There can be no life unless all the parts are put together at one time. “Creating the universe in parts would not be like creating a liver and waiting a few days before creating a brain, then several more weeks before creating a femur bone – until the body was eventually complete. No other method appears to exist to produce life other than creating instantaneously a fully functioning complete organism. This does not preclude that changes may have occurred since that time, only that a certain level of complexity must have existed for both an organism and a universe to exist.” (George Wald)

Our God is an orderly God; everything is in order. The universe is extra organized; our earth is organized into a solar system, which is part of a highly organized group of stars called a galaxy that is part of a highly organized family of galaxies called clusters which, in turn, are organized into an enormous group of clusters called superclusters. Just as the universe, our bodies are organized in an amazing fashion. God said that what He did was good and He commanded that the creatures that He just created be fruitful and multiply. They multiplied by sex. This is the way that God created in order to fill the earth with all the animals. To me the story of creation is truer than that of evolution. All of this cannot be proved, but we have to accept it by faith. Peter walked on the water. He did not do a study to see if he could walk on water; by faith he stepped out of the boat.
