“Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. So, there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So, let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.” Hebrews 4:8-11
When I was young and my parents made me go to church, I praise God for Godly parents, I enjoyed the testimony services more than anything else. This was a time in the service where the people gave praise to God. We need to have more testimony services in our churches. This is my testimony to my rest.
This scripture is so powerful in my life. In the Old Testament, the Law gave instruction about the Sabbath Rest. The Israelites set aside one day to cease from their labors when everyone around them strived seven days a week. The Sabbath Rest is not about Sunday, because people that are involved in church services are not resting on Sunday. They are working more than any other day of the week. I do believe in the Sabbath Rest, but it does not have to be on Sunday. It is a day during the week when you do nothing, but rest and recharge your spiritual battery. This rest that is in Hebrews is about resting in God all the time. This rest in God is about faith in God. It is about resting while we are working, resting while we are playing, resting while we are worshipping God. In the last few years, I have learned to rest more in God. In the last few months, I have learned to rest more in God. I have been having a problem with my lawn mower. The belt keeps coming off and I have to stop and put it on again. I would get so upset about this problem. I could not find out why, even put a new belt on the mower. The last two times I have cut grass, the belt did not come off. I give God the praise. I came to the point that it doesn’t matter if the belt comes off or not, I will just stop and put it back on. This is what rest is all about. Trusting God in the small things. If we trust God in the small things, we can trust Him in the big things.
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.” (Revelations 12:11)
