The Book of James – Trust in God

Posted on Posted in The Book of James

“Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.”  How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.  What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”  Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” James 4:13-17

Our God is a God of wisdom. He is also a God that loves us. He wants the very best for us so He lead us in the way we should go. We need to realize that we are not promised the next second. I had a heart test and when I met with the doctor about the test, he told me that there was no problems with my heart and that I had a strong heart.  But he make the comment that I could have a heart attack before I make it to my car. I felt that he was just being real. Yes, there is nothing wrong with planning for the future, but we need to allow God to control our future. I feel that the only place to be is in the center of God’s will. Being in the center of God’s will is the safest place in the world that we can be. If we stay in God’s will, everything will work out.  At times it may not look like it is going to work, but in the end, everything works out to God’s glory. I know that in my life if I ignore God’s will, things may work out but there will never be any peace. The only way to live is walking with God in His will.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
