The Gospel of John – Evidence

Posted on Posted in The Gospel of John

“And the Father who sent me has testified about me himself. You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face, and you do not have his message in your hearts, because you do not believe me—the one he sent to you.” John 5:37-38

This is the third proof that Jesus is the Son of God. When Jesus was baptized, God testified that Jesus was His Son. “After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” (Matthew 3:16-17) The Old Testament Scriptures bear witness to Jesus Christ. The religious leaders read and studied the Words of the Old Testament, but they could not see that they were a witness of Jesus being the Son of God.
“A man rejects God neither because of intellectual demands nor because of the scarcity of evidence. A man rejects God because of a moral resistance that refuses to admit his need for God.” (Ravi Zacharias) We reject God because we want to have our own way. All we have to do is open our eyes and we can see that God is real. How can you reject God when you look out at the beautiful world that He has created? Then we realize that God loved us and the world so much that He gave His Son so that we could be even closer to Him. If we believe in God, we have to believe in Jesus Christ. The evidence is overwhelming.
