“I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.” Matthew 8:9
Let’s look at the background of this scripture. A Roman officer came to Jesus and asked Jesus to heal his servant. Jesus’ reply was, “I will come and heal him.” The Roman officer knew that Jesus had the authority to heal his servant and he felt that he was unworthy for Jesus to come to his house. He knew that all Jesus had to do was speak the word and his servant was healed. This officer knew the power and authority of Jesus. He believed in this authority. Our churches today do not believe in the authority of Jesus. We come to church wanting to see the miracles. We pray that people will be healed, but do we believe that Jesus has the authority to heal. Do we believe that Jesus working through us, has the power and authority to heal and do the impossible? Until we realize and believe that Jesus has this authority, we will never see the move of God in our churches that God wants to see happen. “When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!” (Matthew 8:10) Having faith like this is victorious living.
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.” (John 1:1-3)
